Tonya Adair
United Way for Southeastern Michigan
Chief Development, Diversity & Engagement Officer

Tonya Adair currently serves as UWSEM’s Chief Development, Diversity & Engagement Officer. She joined the organization in 2018 and provides executive oversight for the organizations fundraising efforts as well as DEI & engagement strategies. In this role, Tonya collaborates with all areas of the organization to ensure the cohesiveness and shared decision-making that is needed for each department served.

Prior to joining United Way Prior Tonya spent 26 years as an educator. Her roles ranged from teacher to high school principal to chief innovation officer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Grambling State University in Louisiana and a master’s in education administration and leadership from Alverno College of Milwaukee.

Tonya has received numerous awards and honors, including most recently as a 2024 Michigan Chronicle Women of Excellence Honoree & Inductee, 2023 Crains Notable Leader in DEI, a Corp! 2020 Michigan’s Salute to Diversity Awards Honoree and is a 2018 inductee of the Alverno College Vanguard Society, just to name a few.

Throughout her career, Tonya has also served on numerous boards. Currently she serves as a member of the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Club for Southeastern Michigan as well as Board Chair for City Year Detroit and as an advisory council member for Greenlight Detroit. Tonya is a leader who is deeply passionate about helping to provide equitable opportunities and resources that help all members of communities to thrive.

Dr. Rubina Tahir

Dr. Rubina Tahir is a chiropractor, corporate wellness entrepreneur, instructor for Northeast College of Health Sciences and The Macomb County Chiropractic Association, co-founder of Positivity and Truth, Huffington Post contributor, an award-winning practitioner by Philadelphia Family Magazine and Hour Detroit Magazine and has been featured in major news outlets including ABC, PHL17, Reader’s Digest, Cosmopolitan, Men’s Health, Prevention, and Bustle Magazine.

Health education for her goes beyond the typical office setting of events, workshops, podcasts, and speaking engagements. During the 2016 Olympics, she joined news anchor Matt Alba on PHL17 to discuss foods that reduce muscle pain. She has created over 70 media segments as host and producer with “My New Philly” for Comcast, including an invitation to interview NBA star Isaiah Thomas. She helps people understand the outcomes of health practices, their options, and lifestyle practices to create successful habits.

While pursuing her bachelor’s degree her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Which had the effect of intensifying her views of self-therapy and how she could help people heal themselves. Watching her hero advocate for her health, led Tahir to teach other women how to do the very same thing. In 2011 Tahir was diagnosed with BRCA1. On December 12th, 2023 she chose to have a prophylactic bilateral salpingo oophorectomy to prevent ovarian cancer. Her mission now is to educate humans on how to turn their biggest fears into a force of positive power.

Kelli Meeks is a Transformational Coach for high-potential women, personal trainer for emotional well-being, guide, ally and mindset mentor for self-leadership for personal and professional prosperity. An imminently recovering procrastinator, perfectionist and attorney, she pivoted to coaching and consulting in 2020 after 35 years of practicing law and counseling clients. Tapping into her vast experience within a profession fraught with high stress and a myriad of challenges, she channels her passion for supporting others in their own exploration and expansion through the impact and influence of provocative questions, mindset shifts, insights and experiences. Kelli collaborates with both small business leaders, to evolve an organizational culture of collaboration, engagement and satisfaction, and individuals to discover strategies to unleash their own personal power. Kelli focuses on the foundation for both personal and professional success -- self-leadership -- to drive profound results. Her personal definition of success is the joy of knowing her two incredible, young adult children enjoy and seek out spending time with her.

Becky Butcher is the General Manager of Adams Outdoor, responsible for the entire state of Michigan. She is a big-picture leader, able to train and lead executives to grow in their professions, while still focusing on the growth of revenue for Adams Outdoor.
