An imminently recovering procrastinator, perfectionist and attorney, she pivoted to coaching and consulting in 2020 after 35 years of practicing law and counseling clients. Tonya joined UWSEM in 2018 and provides executive oversight for the organizations fundraising efforts as well as DEI & engagement strategies. Prior to her current role, she spent 26 years as an educator. Tonya has received numerous awards and honors, including most recently as a 2024 Michigan Chronicle Women of Excellence Honoree & Inductee, 2023 Crains Notable Leader in DEI, a Corp! 2020 Michigan’s Salute to Diversity Awards Honoree and is a 2018 inductee of the Alverno College Vanguard Society, just to name a few.
